Jo Jo Title Poster: Deva Katta Presents a Raw Rural Romantic Comedy
Filmmaker Deva Katta is venturing into a new space altogether with ‘Jo Jo’, an upcoming romantic comedy TBC that’s set in a rugged and unconventional rural heartland. Written and directed by Mayasabha's Kiran Jay Kumar, the film takes place in the dry diamond fields of Jonnagiri.
Jerking one from the intense, severe themes befitting of Deva Katta to Jo Jo who seeks romance, humour, ambition and bills running to a life he doesnt want and above all, leafdrift in his way. The story is laced with rawness, strength, sincerity, humor and adventure at its core.
The story centers on two poor young men and a daring woman who hope to wind up rich by finding a precious diamond. Believing that a single bargain find would break the cycle of their poverty, they are launched on a quest. Their lofty quest, soon, becomes an unforeseen adventure, featuring romance, avarice, treachery, peril and a lot of gallows humor.
The title announcement poster offers a sneak peek into the rustic backdrop of the film with the lead character set against the dry environs of Jonnagiri. To add to the film’s quirky flavour, the makers have added a chutzpah-filled Telugu warning that says the film will be a different kind of rom-com.
‘Jo Jo’ is produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni under the banner of Vijayam. Kiran Jay Kumar has worked on the story, script, dialogues as well as direction.
Krishna Kamal as Seenu and Maahi Sri as Supraja. The drama features Phanindra Devarapalli as Venkatesh, Prabhavathi as Vijayamma, Mahaboob Basha as Suri, Satish Devatte Tanjore as Rangasaami, Puduru Sharath Babu as Ramana and Makarand Deshpande as Mukesh Shah in supporting roles.
The crew at the helm include Rohith Kumar (cinematography), Mahesh Shankar (music) and Madhav Kumar Gullapalli (editing). The triumvirate of Rehman, Srinivas Mouli and Ramachandra co-ordinated the writing of the lyrics.
In a fact Deva Katta, Kiran Jay Kumar and Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni worked together earlier in the film Mayasabha: Rise of the Titans. While Mayasabha indeed dealt with political drama, the Jo Jo movie signifies the much-needed change and a deviation into the realm of romance and rural comedy for the team.
